ASSE STANDARD #1060

AQUASHIELD IS ASSE 1060 (2017) CLASS I, II AND III CERTIFIED.

ASSE 1060 certification is the standard for performance requirements for fluid-conveying components. It focuses on equipment that provides a range of protection for outside and above ground components. This includes backflow prevention assemblies and devices, water meters, control valves, pressure reducing valves, air release valves, pumps and any other component installed outdoors and above ground.

GENERAL INFORMATION

ASSE approved products go through a specific checklist to ensure efficiency. After application, ASSE tests its product according to industry standards. Only once passed, can an enclosure be labeled as ASSE approved. AquaSHIELD enclosures meet all ASSE standards as proudly indicated on enclosure labels.

AIS & BABA CERTIFICATION

If needed, AquaSHIELD will acquire AIS or BABA certification for enclosures. Please visit the corresponding websites to navigate the necessary requirements but also talk to your AquaSHIELD representative to secure these certifications as needed.

WHAT IS THE ASSE 1060 CERTIFICATION?

Capable of supporting a minimum vertical load of 100 lb./ft2 (for enclosures less than 36″ in height the vertical load is tested at 200 lb./ft2).

The distance from the edge of the access opening to the location of test cocks, valve handles, and hand wheels not to exceed 24″.
Depth of water does not exceed 8″ during full flow of the backflow preventer relief discharge and the depth of water does not exceed .25″ after full flow has ceased.
Heat source that is capable of maintaining the temperature of the component and associated piping at 40°F inside the enclosure when subjected to -30°F outside temperature.

ASSE 1060 CLASSIFICATIONS

Class 1 – Minimum thermal resistance value of RS and a heat source that can maintain the temperature of the component and associated piping at 40° F inside the enclosure when subjected to -30° F outside temperature.

Class 2 – Minimum thermal resistance value of RS with no heat source. This class is recommended in climates where the ambient temperature does not go below 33°F for long periods.

Class 3 – Non-freeze protection aimed to provide system security for components.
